An Electric Visit
Our Girls in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) club members had a visit from Blaise, a Biosciences graduate and Talent and Acquisitions Partner, and Eliza, a graduate Chemical Engineer from local company Altilium, who recycle Electric Vehicle (EV) batteries.
During the session, Blaise and Eliza talked the club members through EV battery life cycles, the recycling process at Altilium, and how critical minerals graphite, manganese, cobalt and lithium can be extracted and reused in the recycling process.
After an overview of Careers in Clean Technology, with jobs available such as...
Laboratory Technician |
Research Scientist |
Analytical Chemist |
Chemical Engineer |
The girls took part in a timed recycling component challenge, and then took our guests for a tour of our electric car workshop, where club members talked them through the Greenpower club history, their key team roles on race days (data, pits and driving), and showed them our current electric racing cars, explaining how they work.
A big thank you to our guests from Altilium and our Girls in STEM club members for this inspiring club visit!
