HMS Raleigh - July 2024
Atten-tion!
Our Year 12 Uniformed Protective Services students had a taster of the Navy recruitment process at HMS Raleigh.
At the start of the visit, students were welcomed to Raleigh by Captain Jane Roe and her team.
During the day, students toured the majority of the Raleigh site and dropped into a variety of ‘live’ training sessions including a firefighting demonstration and a tour of the Submarine School.
They watched new recruits being instructed on Damage Control techniques, and visited the Parade Ground, the gymnasium and accommodation block.
Students were given the opportunity to ask questions with current Navy staff and recent recruits, including some who were preparing for their Passing Out Parade the following day, who shared their experiences with our students.
Teacher Poppy Johnson stated, “This trip was a great way for our students to have a ‘hands on’ experience of Navy training and enhance their understanding of the qualities and skills required to serve in the Forces, as well as increasing their awareness of the careers opportunities available at all levels in the Navy.
"We are very grateful to the team at Raleigh for making us feel so welcome today.”
