    Testing their (Crane)iums

A team of STEM Ambassadors, including two Ivybridge Community College Alumni apprentices from Babcock, came into College today to host an interactive Lean Manufacturing Challenge (using the manufacturing of Cranes as a backdrop) with a group of our Year 10 students, which focussed on learning about the lean manufacturing processes, which go on at Babcock.

In addition to connecting with a key local employer and enhancing their team-building skills, students also learnt the following with regards to the lean manufacturing process:

Understanding that a systematic review of a process
    is vital to improve efficiency

Recognising that some parts of a process add value
    and others do not

    Developing a good understanding
of the financial aspects of business and production

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Babcock team for providing our students with such an excellent experience, and congratulations to the winning student team comprising Ben, Lewis, Austin and Reuben!
