Music Tuition

We are fortunate to have a number of visiting peripatetic teachers who offer a wide range of individual vocal and instrumental lessons, including:

• Woodwind
• Brass
• Strings
• Piano
• Guitar
• Drums
• Vocals

There are 30 lessons across the academic year, delivered on a rotating timetable during the College day so that students do not miss the same lesson each week.

Primary Music Hub

The Department also runs Ivybridge Music Hub sessions funded by DMEH (Devon Music Education Hub), which is a weekly workshop incorporating young musicians from the College’s partner primary schools.  With the help of the instrumental staff, instrumental tuition is given together with a general enrichment programme of study, including a range of ensembles such as Ivybridge Junior Orchestra.

Music Enrichment and Extra-Curricular

Our enrichment programme is inclusive and open to all students who wish to continue developing their musical skills and interests. Opportunities include ensembles such as:

• Key Stage 3 Bands
• Ivybridge Junior Orchestra
• Vocal Groups

We also offer an extra-curricular programme for students performing at a high level on specific instruments. These ensembles are led by expert musicians and include:

• String Ensemble
• Production Band
• Flute Ensemble and Woodwind Quartet
• Wind Band
• Big Band
• Sax Ensemble
