Careers Fair 2019 - Inspiring and Informative
The annual Careers Fair held on Wednesday, 27 November 2019 at Ivybridge Community College was a very busy event.
Over forty five organisations and training providers from Plymouth and the South West were present, with over 800 students and parents attending. This year we expanded the invitation to our Year 8 students to help inspire and inform them prior to their GCSE option choices.
From local universities and apprenticeship providers to small businesses and organisations with global interests, everyone found something to interest them.
From careers in IT and accountancy, manufacturing and engineering, the building environment, to health care, music, IT, the Police and the Forces, the range was truly comprehensive.
Students came away with excellent advice and guidance to help with their future GCSE, A Level and further study decisions.
Exhibitors commented on the genuine interest of students and the range of career options on offer. The event was bigger and busier than last year, and will hopefully continue to develop in years to come.
The exhibitors were very impressed and commented,
“Everyone has been really engaged and it’s a fantastic turn out.” Royal Navy
“Very, very busy, loads of interest in our apprenticeships and great to have so many enquiries from the students in the lower years in the College.” Babcock
“It’s been really useful to engage with our future.” Vospers
“Wonderful, well organised event with lots of interaction from the students and parents.” Army
“One of the best careers events we’ve attended, well organised and the students are a credit to the College.” Santander Bank
“Brilliant, well organised event.” PWC
“Great event, the students are very interested in the apprenticeships on offer.” The Cornwall College Group
“The College Ambassadors were so helpful and deserve a special mention.” Building Plymouth
So too were the parents, who commented that it was a “Very positive and informative evening,” and “Food for thought for our daughter.”
They also said that it was a “Really helpful evening for our Year 8 son who’s already thinking ahead for this GCSE choices. He’s all fired up!” and that there were a “Great range of different providers.”
Therefore, can we take this opportunity to thank our professional partners and our parents and students for making it such a successful event!
