Swimming

Ivybridge was proud to take the Swimming Teams up to Millfield School for the annual School’s Regional Competition and represent the College.  Each team took part in a 4x50 Freestyle Relay and a 4x50 Medley Relay.  All of our teams were racing against extremely strong opposition and demonstrated dedication and commitment to succeed and achieved great results

All four swimming teams qualified for the The ESSA 59th Secondary Schools’ Team Championship Finals in 7 categories.

The event was held at the London Aquatic Centre based at the Olympic Park London.  This was a fantastic achievement and a great experience, competing in the 50m Olympic Pool against the best swimmers in the country. Unfortunately, due to injury the Senior Boys Team could not compete.  On the day there were 30 teams from across the Country who qualified for the national finals, the event consisted of 3 heats in each category. The Junior Girls were 6th in their heat in the Freestyle Relay and 2nd in the Medley qualifying them for the final where they were placed 7th overall.  The Boys Intermediate Team qualified through to the finals in both the Freestyle and Medley and came 10th in both.  The Intermediate Girls qualified in the Medley Relay and finished 6th in the final.  This was an amazing achievement and fantastic result for all the teams to be in the top 10 nationally is a credit to their hard work and dedication.  Thanks must also go to Matt Henry the Swimming Academy Coach who has developed the Swimming Programme to provide these opportunities for the students.

The results of the remaining teams were:

Junior Girls - 16th  Freestyle Relay / 7th  Medley Relay

Intermediate Girls – 6th Medley Relay

Intermediate Boys – 10th Freestyle Relay / 10th Medley Relay
