Pierre Michelin proudly representing Ivybridge Community College has become British Schools Judo National Champion for the second year in a row.
Pierre, aged 14, has been crowned British Schools Judo Nationals Champion for the second year in a row.
Pierre, who is a member of South Brent Judo Club, was proudly representing Ivybridge Community College at the British Schools National Championships in Sheffield on Saturday, 8 April 2017.
More than 650 Judokas from Year 6 to 13 took part in the two day event at the Institute of Sport in Sheffield.
Following The British Schools regional competition events around the country earlier in the year where Pierre took Gold by three impressive Ippons , he has clearly repeated his Gold success from last year's regionals . Then this weekend Pierre was again competing in the Years 8/9 Under 66kg category, in a group of 11. Having progressed through the first round with a bye, he won his second round contest with a wazari and hold down before taking out his semi-final with a wazari throw score; Pierre then won with two yuko in a tense final match to claim the British Schools Champion title once again.
Pierre exceeded his success from last year and his performances on the mat showed this:
- Gold at Western Area School Regionals 2016 Years 8/9 U66kg
- Gold at British Schools National Championships 2016 Years 8/9 U66kg
- Gold at Western Area Schools regionals 2017 Years 8/9 U66kg
- Gold at British Schools National Championships 2017 Years 8/9 U66kg
