In a bumper report, our Teams and individuals have been recording more impressive victories.

As usual, our news includes updates from College sports specialisms…

Netball

Football

Rugby

…but we are also pleased to share stories of student achievement and activity in fields such as…

Badminton

Swimming

Hockey

Rowing

…and following a shout out to our new Head of Rugby in the last Sports Report, news of an achievement from another member of staff.

--------

We would first like to congratulate Year 7 student Autumn on winning some medals at a tournament in Wiltshire.

Autumn took part in the Badminton England Under 15 National Tournament winning a brilliant bronze medal in her individual competition.

If that wasn’t enough, she then teamed up with a player based in Sussex, and took Silver in the Doubles too!

A very well done to Autumn.

--------

Meanwhile, some of our students have taken to sports like a Duck to water, taking part at an event organised by the English Schools Swimming Association.

Well done to all our incredible competitors who represented the College with pride.

--------

Whilst they were swimming, another of our students were flying (on the bike).

Well done to Matt, who had got on his bike and was selected for the South West Team as part of the British Cycling Inter Regional Selection.

--------

Meanwhile, it was a case of ‘Girls and Boys United’, as our Mixed Hockey Team took to the field.

Congratulations to the Team who recorded a comprehensive victory of eight goals to three over their opponents.

--------

Meanwhile, our female students were jumping through hoops in a contest against their opponents from a school in Cornwall.

Well done to our Senior Elite Netball Squad, who came out on top in their contest by 47 points to 33.

--------

It’s been a busy time recently for our footballers and a successful start for our Year 8 Elite Girls Football Team in their National Schools Cup Campaign.

Well done to the young ladies on their 4-2 win over their opponents from an Academy in Plymouth.

Meanwhile, we would also like to give a shout out to our Year 7 Elite Football Team following their match against a Team from a Torbay Grammar School.

Well done to our Year 8 Elite Football Team, who also took on an opponent from the same school who were complemented on having 'gave it their all’.

Meanwhile, three was the magic number for our Year 9 Elite Football Team who put three unanswered goals in the back of the net against their opponents from another school in Plymouth, winning their match 3-0.

And finally, our Senior Elite Team also met this standard in their match against a Devon Private School, posting a fantastic 4-0 victory.

--------

Back out on the water, we would like to congratulate those students who were part of the Yealm Men’s B Team who participated in the Gig Rowing Championships.

We would also like to make a special mention to our Head of PE Naomi Philpot, who along with her Caradon Ladies Team also competed and claimed victory with a fantastic Gold medal.

This follows a previous report of her successes a couple of years ago, when Naomi and her Team won a brilliant bronze at the World Pilot Gig Championships.

A very well done to everyone who participated.

--------

And finally, out on the Rugby pitch, our Year 9 and Year 11 Elite Rugby Teams were in action against a team from a college in Bristol.

Well done to the Year 9s who recorded a brilliant win of 26 points to 7.

Meanwhile, our Year 10 Elite Rugby Team were involved a match against a Team from an Independent school in Tiverton, and also finished as victors by 24 points to 12.

In other news, our Senior Elite Rugby Team took on a Team from Exeter in the National Cup.

Our Senior Development Rugby Team were also out in force, against a Team from a Grammar School in Plymouth and also recorded a great victory of 26 points to 12.

And finally, a huge congratulations to the Year 11 Development Rugby Team, who were also taking on a Team from the same School and completed a comprehensive victory of 47 points to 10 over their opponents.

Another report full of wonderful wins and exciting activities – how will our sports students top this?

No doubt they have the endeavour to give it an almighty go!
