Sports Report - 21/11/2025 and 28/11/2025

Inspiring the Sports Students of Tomorrow,
More Big Wins
and big Team Sign Ups!

This report has news featuring the amazing accomplishments of current students followed by big news from a former one signing up to a big, nationally known team.

--------

We commence this report by plunging into the pool with news from a National Championships.

Huge congratulations to Isaac who represented Newton Abbot Water Polo Club at the highest level at the Swim England National Age Group Under 15 Boys Championships 2025!

The action took place at the Manchester Aquatics Centre, pitting the top 16 teams in the country against each other.

Despite narrowly losing two matches, the team played five intense contests in all, securing three fantastic wins against tough national competition!

Finishing 9th overall in the country is an exceptional achievement and a testament to the hard work, skill, and dedication of the entire Newton Abbot squad.

Well done on an amazing performance at the national level!

--------

On dry land, in the Netball Courts our Year 11 Elite Netball Team were competing in the County Rounds.

Taking place at the University of Exeter, the Team finished in a very impressive 8th place overall, having competed with a very strong field of teams from across the region.

To secure a top 10 finish in the County Round is a fantastic achievement, showcasing dedication, skill, and teamwork.

We are incredibly proud of the effort and commitment every player demonstrated on the court.

Elsewhere, our Year 9 Elite Netball Squad faced a tough fixture against a strong Team from a Torbay Grammar School and couldn't quite get over the winning line, but we would like to congratulate our opponents on their victory.

We would still like to praise our Team for the determination, competitive spirit, and teamwork they showed.

In other Netball News, we would like to say a huge congratulations to Lucy Crawford, who has achieved a massive milestone by being selected for the Under 17 Team Bath NPL (National Performance League) Squad!

This selection is fantastic recognition of Lucy’s hard work, talent, and commitment on the court.

Playing at the NPL level puts her among the best young netball players in the country.

We are incredibly proud to see her represent our region at this elite level.

--------

Meanwhile, some of our footballers have also been out in force.

Our Elite A and B Football Teams took part in a football festival against a Team from an Independent School in Somerset.

It was a brilliant opportunity for the players to get competitive minutes on the pitch.

Well done to the A Team who shared the spoils with a win and a loss, as well as the B Team who went unbeaten with two wins.

It was also wonderful to see some of our keen, female, footballing students, participating in some of our recent Primary Football Activities, working as officials and overseeing some footballing activities involving invited students from Primary Schools located in and around the surrounding area.

Our Year 8 Elite Football Squad had a good day too, securing a clean sheet against a Team from a College on the edge of Cornwall.

Well done to our players for a clinical display in front of goal and an outstanding performance throughout the game.

--------

Our Year 9 Elite Rugby Team were also celebrating a Big Victory!

The players put on a fantastic display, securing a massive 44-12 victory against their Cornish opponents in the National Cup.

Incredible work rate and skill from the whole squad to advance to the next round.

Recently, some of our Rugby stars paid a special visit to London.

A massive congratulations to our students who represented Ivybridge Community College pitch side at Twickenham

As winners of the T2 prize, they earned the incredible opportunity to be flag bearers on the pitch before the main event.

What an experience to be right in the action!

The ultimate reward? They got to stay and watch the electrifying England vs. New Zealand match!

We are so proud of you for representing the college on the national stage!

--------

And in a belated report, we conclude this article with news of a former student being called up to the Top League!

What an incredible few years it's been for Freya Weeks!

From making a significant impact with the Devon ETC (Elite Talent Centre), she boasts an impressive curriculum vitae having continuously climbed the ranks and shown her immense talent...

Representing England at U17 level

--------

Playing for the English Schools Representative side at Under 16 level

--------

Developing her game with Bristol City at Under 21 and Under 23 level

And now Freya has signed with Chelsea Women in the Women’s Super League

Joining one of the top clubs in the world, with such a talented squad, is a huge step in her career and a well-deserved opportunity.

She has a seriously bright future ahead in the women's game!

Congratulations, Freya!
