Time To Talk Day - Thursday, 6 February 2020
At Ivybridge Community College we supported Time to Talk Day 2020.
On Thursday, 6 February we encouraged students and staff to spend time talking about mental health. Mental health problems affect one in four of us, yet too many people are made to feel isolated, ashamed and worthless because of this. We know that talking about mental health can feel awkward, but the more we talk, the less awkward it will become.
As part of Children’s Mental Health week some of our Year 7 and 8 students have been working on the ‘Find Your Brave’ awareness activities which explore what being brave really means and how it helps develop positive mental health. This topic has also been covered in the CPSHE lessons this week, where students participated in a Mental Health quiz. Our aim is to make conversations about mental health everyday practice.
In addition to this we have the Wellbeing Hub where trained Student Ambassadors are available to talk to students at every lunchtime and break time.
