Ambitious Ellie is Aiming for England
Over the weekend of Saturday, 14 and Sunday, 15 December, Ivybridge Community College Year 9 student, Ellie Sara attended an England U14 Girls’ Football Training Camp, at Warwick University.
Ellie was among the top 25 girls nationally in her age group being put through their paces by the England coaches. Training included; coaching practices, one to one sessions and internal small sided training games.
Ellie said, “I was selected for the U14 England Camp through the Devon Football Association. My hard work and dedication together with support from coaches from the different clubs, has enabled me to reach the high level that I am at now, and made it possible for me to attend the camp. I love playing the game because it’s competitive and also it allows me to express myself on the field. I train five and a half hours a week, plus matches on Saturdays and sometimes on Sundays. I fit my College work around my training, as I feel it’s essential to have a balance between the two because they are both equally as important to me. My goal is to become a professional England Ladies’ Footballer.”
Dave Leonard, Teacher of P.E. said, “Ellie is so focused on her football and is dedicated to working hard at her game to be the best she can be. I have no doubt she can play at the highest level in the women’s game with her attitude and application.”
**Stop Press** Ellie will be training at the England National Performance Hub Camp in Gloucester over the weekend of Saturday,25 and Sunday,26 January.
