College Equestrian Team Qualifies for National Schools Championships

The Arena Eventing Team representing Ivybridge Community College had a very successful day in the National Schools Equestrian Association (NSEA) Championship Qualifiers at Bicton Arena, Exeter.  Competing at the Arena Eventing Qualifier in September were school teams from all over the South West.

The team won the 80/85cm class with all riders jumping clear rounds and scoring highly on their style marks.  This was a fantastic achievement as it was a very competitive class with 11 teams entered. Year 11 students, Hannah P and Ellie S, were also awarded the 5th and 6th individual placings with over 50 horse and rider combinations in this class.  The team were delighted to have qualified for the National Schools Championships at Addington Equestrian Centre, Buckingham in October.  The Ivybridge team jumping in the bigger height 90/95cm class also jumped good rounds and finished in 5th place. Congratulations to the team: Courtney F and  Mia H, in Year 10, Ellie and Hannah, in Year 11,  Rebecca R, in Year 12 and Millie W, in Year 13.

The College also had two teams competing at the NSEA Dressage Championship Qualifier.  The dressage riders had a very successful day taking both 1st and 2nd place in the team competition.  The individual placings were also dominated by riders from the College with Rebecca finishing in 1st place, Courtney in 2nd place, Ellie in 4th place and Year 9 student, Katie R, in 6th place.  In the Novice Dressage Class Rebecca finished in 2nd place, qualifying for the Individual Championships. They will all travel up to the Championships along with the Arena Eventing Team.

In the Showjumping Competition Year 10 student, Caitlin J, represented the College and had a great day jumping two double clears to finish in 6th and 7th place individually to give her a qualifying place to the National Schools Plate Competition.

Good luck to the team competing in the National Schools Championships at the end of October.
