Ivybridge Community College

ICC among England’s best as they prepare for National Schools’ Football Final

  • Ivybridge Community College to contest national final as part of PlayStation®Schools’ Cup Festival at Reading’s Madejski Stadium
  • Under 14 B Team to compete for Under 14 PlayStation Schools’ Cup for ‘B’ Teams on Wednesday, 18 May
  • Festival is the season finale of the PlayStation Schools’ Cup, which is the largest collection of schools’ football tournaments in England

Ivybridge Community College will take to the hallowed turf of Reading FC’s Madejski Stadium as they bid to win the countrywide English Schools’ FA (ESFA) Under 14 PlayStation® Schools’ Cup for ‘B’ Teams.

The College’s Under 14 B Team will be part of the three-day PlayStation®Schools’ Cup Festival, which runs from Monday, 16 May to Wednesday, 18 May. They will face Steven Gerrard’s former school Cardinal Heenan on Wednesday, 18 May (13:30 KO) with the opportunity to be crowned the Under 14 PlayStation Schools’ Cup for ‘B’ Teams champions.

‘B’ Team Cups are for schools that have entered an ‘A’ Team into the same age category. With accessibility being key to the PlayStation Schools’ Cup, these tournaments provide more opportunities for students in the Year Group to represent their school in national competitions.

It is the third consecutive year that the Madejski Stadium has played host to the PlayStation Schools’ Cup Festival, which last year saw over 6,000 spectators attend and watch this feast of schools’ football. Hopes are high that this impressive figure can be surpassed this year and that even more friends, family and fellow students look to sample the carnival atmosphere with 15 schools’ finals being contested across the three days.

Before their match, all of the competing finalists will get the chance to use either the home or away dressing room at the Championship side’s state-of-the-art stadium as part of an authentic match-day experience.

Students from Ivybridge Community College have been invited along to the event to support their friends and enjoy a number of activities including PlayStation®4 gaming experiences, free giveaways, half-time entertainment for spectators and live commentary for each game.
