Former Student Graduates as Corporal in the Royal Air Force Police
On Wednesday, 3 February 2021, former Ivybridge Community College student, Thomas Sandle, graduated as a Corporal in the Royal Air Force Police from the Defence School of Policing and Guarding, Southwick Park.
This followed an intensive 22 week Initial Police Training at DSPG Southwick Park and 10 weeks of Basic Recruit Training at RAF Halton, which Tom began in March 2020.
It has been Tom’s lifelong dream to become a policeman and graduating was the culmination of hard work and dedication over the past few years at College, Police and Air Cadets. Tom has now been posted to RAF Brize Norton on the Aviation Security Flight (ASF), where he will be regularly travelling worldwide on a variety of air transport security tasks.
Tom said, “Graduating into the RAF Police has been one of the proudest moments of my life. The skills and knowledge I gained whilst studying Public Services at the College undoubtedly assisted me throughout my Military and Police training. For anyone thinking about a career in the Armed Forces, I would recommend it 100%!”
“Whilst at the College, Tom was a diligent and committed student, who always showed strong leadership throughout his Public Services Diploma studies. We always knew he would be successful and this outstanding achievement by Tom is one that myself and the PE Department are very proud of. Congratulations Tom, we wish you every success in the future”. Claire Mitchell, Physical Education Deputy Team Lead and Public Services Teacher.
