Year 10 Ivybridge Community College student and Rugby Academy member,
Aaron Duffield, spent this Christmas on a once in lifetime adventure to India. The sixteen day journey included cultural visits to the Palace Of The Winds, the Amber Fort Palace and the Jantar Mantar observatory in Jaipur. He also witnessed the sunset over the Taj Mahal.
Last term saw an unusual visitor around Ivybridge Community College. Years 9 and 10 students were privileged to enjoy the company of Marcus Alexander, author of the ‘Keeper of the Realm’ series of books. Marcus arrived, bringing with him a bit of a whirlwind which continued throughout the day as he worked with four different groups of students.
On Monday, 11 December we welcomed Gary Wilson to Ivybridge Community College to work with our students, parents and staff. Gary Wilson is one of the country’s leading experts on raising boys’ achievement. He is a freelance education consultant, speaker, trainer, author and former teacher of twenty-seven years.
On Friday, 1 December, Miss Fawbert-Mills (Key Stage 5 Coordinator for English and Media Studies) invited Sixth Form students from Ivybridge Community College, Hele’s School, Plympton Academy and Plymstock School to take part in a Sixth Form Debate held at the College.
Wednesday, 6 December saw the launch of 'Impact Day'. It was a day that represents everything that is best about the quality of character education at Ivybridge Community College.
Twenty three Year 7 and 8 students visited Ivydene Care Home to host a Christmas Coffee morning with the residents living there.
Ivybridge Community College performed its most gritty, poignant and emotionally moving musical ever – Billy Elliot. It was a triumph of comedy, high drama and musical prowess, by all who participated.
Ivybridge Community College students gave German audiences an early Christmas present as they treated them to four wonderful gymnastics and dance performances.
On Wednesday, 22 November Ivybridge Community College Year 8 and Year 9 students were given the opportunity to meet the inspirational Lee Spencer “The Rowing Marine" a formal Royal Marine who experienced a life changing accident and lost half of his right leg. Lee is a true inspiration and spoke to our students about how we view life and each other and he believes that every failure in his life is an opportunity to keep trying harder and succeed. Lee has rowed across the Atlantic with three other injured veterans under the "Row2Recovery" charity. He was awarded a Guinness World Record for his success.
Ivybridge Gymnastics Academy took fifty four gymnasts to the UK’s biggest intermediate gymnastics competition, the Honiton Invitational, and returned with some well-earned medals.

On Thursday, 7 December four World Class students from Ivybridge Community College were invited by Miranda Perry, World Class Schools Quality Mark Award Co-Director, to project manage this very prestigious awards ceremony, held at Churchill College, Cambridge University. This year a further sixteen schools were awarded this unique status.
The Careers Fair held on Wednesday, 23 November at the College was a busy event. Over forty companies and training providers were present, with over eight hundred students and parents attending..
