Welcome to the Performing Arts Department at Ivybridge Community College.

The Performing Arts Department offers a creative and dynamic programme across a range of disciplines, including:

  • Dance
  • Drama
  • Music
  • Creative PE (Gymnastics and Trampolining)

Our dedicated team works collaboratively to provide a cohesive curriculum supported by a wide range of extracurricular opportunities, including concerts, performances and whole-college productions.

We place a strong emphasis on practical, performance-based learning, supported by a clear understanding of theory and context. This approach helps students deepen their subject knowledge, build confidence and develop valuable transferable life skills.

 

Performing Arts Facilities 

The Performing Arts Department is supported by a wide range of high-quality specialist facilities designed to enhance practical learning, rehearsal and performance opportunities.

These include:

  • A fully equipped Drama Studio with technical facilities
  • A Performance Hall with an open-plan stage and full technical setup, used for concerts and whole-college events
  • Two dedicated Performing Arts studios with mirrors and sound systems
  • A Gymnasium with mirrors and sound system for Creative PE
  • Specialist Music Rooms, including ICT-based composition suites and performance spaces equipped with keyboards, guitars, drum kits, amplifiers, microphones and PA systems
  • A fully equipped recording studio for music production
  • A suite of practice and tuition rooms, including band rooms and spaces for individual instrumental lessons
  • Additional instrumental teaching rooms and music huts for private lessons

These facilities provide students with excellent opportunities to rehearse, perform, compose and develop their skills in a professional-style environment.

The Performing Arts Department is built on a strong ethos of teamwork, collaboration and creativity. We aim to provide a supportive and professional environment where students can develop their skills through practical exploration, research and performance.
