Ivybridge Community College Remembers

All staff and students at Ivybridge Community College gathered at 11am on Friday, 10 November 2023 to pause and pay their respects to all those who made many sacrifices in defending the nation and pay tribute to our current service personnel.

Music students, including Greg Thomas, Mailli Allen-Waldron, James Gilmour, Tansy Allen-Waldron, Mateo Wilson, Emily Offer and Charlie Tyson, gave a very atmospheric rendition of some poignant pieces including a beautiful interpretation of ‘Eventide’.

There was a march-past by students who are members of the local Cadet Services, including the Air, Army and Police.

Mr Hayward, Associate Assistant Principal, gave a reading from Laurence Binyon’s ‘For the Fallen’ before the College fell silent to observe a two-minute silence.

Music student Mailli Allen Waldron played ‘The Last Post’ and ‘Reveille’ before Mr Creswell, Deputy Principal, gave a reading from John Maxwell Edmonds’ ‘Kohima Epitaph’ and led the whole College in observing the National Anthem.

The College would like to thank all those who contributed to this small ceremony and are proud to remember our national heroes who fought for our freedoms.
