Sports Report 25/04/2025 and 02/05/2025

National Teams and Local Teams,
National Tournaments and Local Competitions
and a National Award

As Spring moves forward, our super sports stars have been very busy with a variety of activities including qualifying for national and local finals and being called to represent national and local teams.

The College staples of Dance, Rugby, Football and Volleyball are catered for (including an 'Unsung Hero’ award for a member of staff), but we are also delighted to announce some achievements by students in the fields of Equestrian and Martial Arts.

--------

And it’s in the Marshall Arts arena where we start, and we would like to give a special mention to Josh (Year 9) (pictured) following his performance in the EMAP Taekwondo Championships.

Josh put in a notable performance in the Patterns competition, taking home a brilliant bronze medal.

But if that wasn’t enough, he kept up the pace in the Continuous Sparring Competition and won a Gold!

--------

Meanwhile, Jessica (Year 9) and her horse were jumping for joy having completed all rounds of the BRC Equilibrium Winter Show Jumping Championships, and under the gaze of the online specialist media company cameras.

Also from Year 9, Neve and her trusty steed took part in the Prelim Under 21 Class Competition at the British Dressage Petplan Winter National Championships.

They had a successful competition, making the podium and taking home a bronze medal.

--------

Over on the Dancefloor, our dancers have been taking centre stage at the Dance National Heats.

Well done to members of our Senior Dance Academy for achieving a fabulous fifth place.

Meanwhile, our Junior Dance Academy had a good day taking a fantastic third place position in their competition.

--------

Our Football Teams have also been out in force, including our Year 9 Elite Football Team who have qualified for the Finals of a Devon Tournament.

Not to be outdone, our Year 10 Elite Team have matched this and are also through to the Devon Finals.

--------

Meanwhile, out on the Rugby Field, some of our Rugby stars from the T1 Touch Mixed Team have been qualifying for the Finals of their own tournament, in this case, by winning a T1 Touch Tournament and qualifying for the National Finals.

And whilst they’re off to the National Finals, we would like to congratulate one of our Sixth Form students Charlie (pictured) who has been invited to join an upcoming England Under 17 Rugby Development Camp.

In the Lower School, we would also like to congratulate Year 11 student Ashton (pictured) who has been called up for the Poland Under 20 National Rugby Team ahead of a qualifying match for the Under 18 Championships.

--------

Finally, we conclude with some special news from Volleyball, with Sixth Form student Edo (pictured) also being called up for another Team – this time, having made the Final 15 and selected as part of the South West Under 17 Volleyball Team.

Congratulations to Edo on this opportunity.

And finally, we would like to congratulate one of our own staff from the PE Department.

Mr Hitt (pictured), known for giving students a chance to enjoy competitive volleyball opportunities, had a lovely evening at the recent Volleyball England Annual Awards, being recognised for his work and winning an ‘Unsung Hero Award’.

Another amazing list of sporting stories of successes and achievements and an awesome April!
