Co-Curriculum Programme
What is the Co-Curriculum Programme?
Starting in September 2026, we are excited to launch our Co-Curriculum programme designed to foster the "whole person" through our three core pillars: Character, Confidence and Contribution. The Co-Curriculum Programme sits under the personal development and well-being umbrella.
By integrating these values into our daily College life, we aim to provide students with more than just academic success; we are committed to building resilient individuals who take on new challenges. Our goal is to provide a vibrant range of activities that inspire our young people to discover new passions, sharpen their unique talents, and strengthen their sense of belonging within our community.
The Co-Curriculum Programme is a curriculum enrichment initiative for all students in Year 7 - 12. Students will take part in activities linked to the following themes:
Innovation (STEM)
New Skills (Awards and Qualifications)
Service (belonging to something bigger)
Performance and Creativity (Arts and Sport)
Initiative (Leadership)
Resilience (Character)
Excellence (Academic and Skills)
When is it?
Every Wednesday, Block 5 is assigned to Personal Development and Well-being.
- The CPSHE Programme will be delivered to all students every Wednesday, Block 5, Week A.
- The Co-Curriculum Programme will be available to all students every Wednesday, Block 5, Week B.
How will it happen?
The Co-Curriculum Programme is designed to be a progressive journey, evolving alongside our students as they move from Year 7 through to Year 12. Each stage is tailored to meet the developmental needs of the Year Group, ensuring a continuous build-up of skills and experiences.
Year 7 – Explore Adventure
All Year 7 students engage in a 16-week fixed Character Development Programme. This phase focusses on Outdoor Education, encouraging students to step outside their comfort zones, build resilience and develop teamwork from the very beginning.
Years 8 and 9 – Learn and Challenge
Students will select two activities for the year (each running for eight weeks) based on our inspire themes. This choice allows students to deepen their interests or challenge themselves with something entirely new.
Year 10 – Experience
The Year 10 programme shifts focus toward future readiness. Students choose either one sixteen-week activity or two eight-week activities centred on the inspire themes. The primary goal here is gaining tangible experience, including:
- Work Experience placements.
- Earning additional qualifications.
- Targeted skill-building for life beyond school.
Year 11 – Support and Success
Recognising the importance of the final GCSE year, the Co-Curriculum for Year 11 provides additional study support sessions. These are designed to manage workload, refine revision techniques, and ensure every student feels confident heading into their examinations.
Year 12 – Leadership and Specialism
In the Sixth Form, the programme offers maximum flexibility to support a student’s specific career or university goals. Students have the opportunity to engage in:
- Service and Volunteering within the community.
- Extended Work Experience or professional placements.
- Competitive Sport or additional Study Blocks.
Note to students: All activity selections for the year are made in advance to ensure a structured and meaningful experience for everyone involved.
