Welcome to Work Experience
Work experience is a fantastic opportunity to try out an area of potential interest in terms of your future career. It can also help enormously in terms of boosting your university or apprenticeship application, giving you valuable experience that you can build on and learn from.
You can either use the database of employers on Devon.learnaboutwork website (the instructions are in the booklet), or contact other employers independently. You will need to be polite and persistent: email the company first, then follow up with a phone call.
You will also find information in Handouts/Sixth Form/ Work experience, and Mrs Street is on-hand in the Sixth Form office to answer queries.
Remember: you have 8 weeks to find a placement, as the deadline is Friday, 8 March! This sounds like a long time; however, you will need to prioritise it now. We then need two forms: the Health Declaration form and the Work Experience Agreement form, signed by the employer, yourself and your parents (just getting these signed will take time).
Sarah Street, Administrator in the Sixth Form office (next to the Common room) will be your point of contact for questions and delivering your forms.
Best of luck
