Ivybridge Community College continues to commit to ensuring the most able students in sport are given opportunities to excel. As one of the first ever Specialist Sports Colleges we continue to invest in ensuring students can compete and thrive at Club, Regional, National and International level with the support of the College. Employing a number of professional practitioners such as Coaches, Physiotherapists, a Strength and Conditioning Coach and linking to a number of professional clubs such as the Exeter Chiefs and Plymouth Argyle, Ivybridge Community College continues to invest in ‘Elite Performer Development’.
The College offers opportunities to combine aspirations for elite level sport with academic study, and embraces the link between values in sport and values in curriculum. The relationship between these two facets is equal, and students understand that success in sport must be mirrored by success in the classroom.
Sports which we cannot coach, such as Judo or Equestrian, still see the benefit of Academy support through Strength and Conditioning, Mentoring and Recovery.
Former students have included Commonwealth 2018 Diver, Matt Dixon and Weight Lifting’s Sonny Webster.
