About the Sixth Form
Welcome to the Sixth Form at Ivybridge Community College.
Totalling around 500 students, the Sixth Form is split into Year 12, whose Acting Head of Year is Miss Kim Thorne, and Year 13, whose Head of Year is Dr Tom Kershaw. Ms Heather Lilley is the Assistant Principal responsible for Sixth Form (Key Stage 5). More information about the structure of the Sixth Form can be found in the Subjects and Courses pages.
We offer a broad range of courses from BTEC Subsidiary Diploma, Diploma and Extended Diplomas to A Levels and Applied A Levels, all of which are detailed below. In general, students choose courses across four option blocks in Year 12 and continue with courses covering three option blocks in Year 13. Extended Diploma courses are full-time options in their own right. The Extended Project qualification is offered as an additional fourth option in Year 13. Full details of all of our courses are given below.
It is absolutely crucial that students pick courses that they will enjoy and succeed in. Some demonstration of a student’s aptitude in a given subject at Level 2 (GCSE or equivalent) is therefore necessary to secure a place on Sixth Form courses.
