Year 8 Geography students visit Dawlish Warren to investigate coastal geography.

Conducting geographical research on our coast line.

The Geography Department took the whole of Year 8 to Dawlish Warren at the end of February with different teaching populations going out on separate days.  The students were looking at human and physical processes acting on the coastline as well as learning how to conduct geographical research by carrying out different fieldwork techniques.  The knowledge and information the students gathered is being used to enhance their learning back in the classroom.

All the students had a fantastic time and we were very lucky with the weather, it stayed dry for all four days!  It was even sunny enough for some students to opt for ice cream at lunch rather than hot chocolate!

Year 7 will have a similar geographical fieldwork experience in the summer term where we will be exploring and researching the different environments and land use on Dartmoor.

Thank you to all staff who gave up their time to help organise and run the trip.
