National Supadance Finals

In November, Ivybridge Community College students Lucy Barnfield, in Year 11, and her sister Chloe, in Year 9, travelled to Blackpool to compete in the three day National Supadance Finals.

They competed against 174 other 12-16 year old dancers in both Latin and Ballroom competitions.  Their Jive impressed the judges, as they were allocated into the

A-division, seeing them dance with the best of the best, a fabulous achievement putting them in the top 42 couples.  Despite missing out on the medals in this section, the girls danced brilliantly and were delighted with their results.

The girls also competed in the All Ladies Adult Team event and were thrilled to be awarded with fourth place.  A proud moment for their mum, and the whole team from Puttin on the Ritz Dance Studio.  Suffice to say, it was a successful weekend overall.

Sisters in National Dance Finals

Students Lucy Barnfield in Year 11, and her sister Chloe Barnfield, in Year 9, travelled up to Reading over the weekend of 14 and 15 September, for their latest competitions in Ballroom and Latin Dancing.

They competed in the Under 16's Ballroom and Under 16's Latin A-Divisions and were delighted to make it to the Semi-finals for both events.  Chloe (aged 13) and Lucy (aged 15) also competed in the 14-16 Years Open Competition and again made it through to the Semi-finals which is a great achievement.

We wish them all the best in the National Finals in Blackpool in November.

Lucy and Chloe currently train at least 4 days a week with anything up to 5 hours on a Sunday.  When they aren't training they are helping teach in both adult and children's classes.  Chloe is also very involved in Dance at the College, which she loves.

As part of their Supadance competitions, they lead a four-couple team in a dance relay event.  They accumulate points for this section at each competition over the year.  With just two competitions left in the Southern Supadance League Lucy and Chloe are currently in first place.  It's very close between 1st and 3rd with only 6 points in it, so they will have to work hard to keep their lead.
