Appreciation shown to College as Former Students continue to Achieve

Former Ivybridge Community College students, Ethan and Josie Hall, are both achieving success in their Further Education journeys.

Ethan has recently been awarded the ‘Sir William Crawford Prize for the Best Student in Level 2 Business Management’.  He was awarded this for obtaining the highest mark in Year 2 of his Business Degree at Queens University, Belfast, and as a result was also awarded a £500 prize.  He has just started his final year now and needs a 2.1 or higher to accept the offer he is holding to achieve his goal and work for KPMG (a global network of professional firms providing Audit, Tax and Advisory services), in Belfast.

Ethan said, “It does not feel like two years since I left Ivybridge; many happy times were spent there.  I was pleasantly surprised to hear I had won the Sir William Crawford Prize.  It was awarded due to being 'the best student' within my second year studying Bsc Business Management at Queens University Belfast.  I studied six modules within the year including Data and Statistics, Human Resources, International Business, Operations Management, The Digital Business and Leading for Change.  My average mark for the year was 76.3% which I was thoroughly happy with.  I am now progressing to my final year and hopefully will graduate in 2021.”

Earlier this year, his sister Josie qualified with a First in Nursing at Brighton University. She worked all through the Covid-19 epidemic as an Accident and Emergency Nurse at Eastbourne hospital, and has just been awarded a scholarship to study medicine in Canterbury with the University of Kent and Medway, which she loves.

Mrs Hall writes, “I am a very proud mum and very appreciative of the quality of education and support they both received at Ivybridge Community College.  A huge thank you from the Hall family to all the teaching and support staff at the College, especially to those staff who worked with Josie and Ethan”.

Ms Lilley, Deputy Principal added, “A huge congratulations to Ethan and Josie.  It’s wonderful to hear their news and continued successes since leaving Ivybridge Sixth Form.  We really love to keep in touch with our alumni and are so pleased to be able to share with them in their celebrations”.
