Ivybridge Community College Swimmers win an array of Devon Championship Medals

The Devon Championships, held at the Life Centre in Plymouth, covered three weekends in January and February with Ivybridge Community College students to the fore.

Year 11 student, Hollie Steer, won the 50m Breaststroke and the 100m Breaststroke Senior Championships, took the Silver medal in the 400m IM Senior Championship and Bronze medals in the 200m Breaststroke and 200m IM Senior Championships. 

Hollie also won four Gold medals in her age group including 100m Butterfly, 50m Freestyle and 200m Freestyle.  Lucy Steer, also in Year 11, was just outside the medals with two fourth places in her age group finals.

Whilst Year 11 student, Matthew Plumb, achieved eight personal bests and two Silver medals including the 50m Butterfly and two Bronze medals for 100m Backstroke and 100m Freestyle in his age group finals.

Emily Morgan-Hughes, in Year 9, swam brilliantly to be placed sixth and seventh in the Senior Championships for 100m and 200m Breaststroke and also won a Gold medal in the 50m Breaststroke and Silver in the100m Backstroke in her age group.  Also in Year 9, Emily Chapman was placed sixth in the 50m Breaststroke and sixth in the 50m Freestyle in the finals and managed three personal bests overall.

Alice Chapman in Year 7 achieved eleven personal best times at the Devon Championships and came home with one Silver medal for 100m Breaststroke and one Bronze medal for the 200m Breaststroke.  Whilst Year 7 student, Harry Morgan-Hughes was placed fourth in both the 50m and 100m Butterfly achieving personal best times in these races.
