Jake Qualifies for the Horse of the Year Show
During the summer half term, Year 8 student Jake Myers had a fabulous weekend when he went to the Southview Equestrian Centre in Cheshire, for one of the Pony Premiers, where the Horse of the Year Show qualifier took place.
Jake and his pony Eddy (The Agent) won the 138cm Horse of the Year qualifier and therefore he has now qualified to compete in the prestigious Horse of the Year Show in October.
His parents have said, “this has been a dream of Jake’s since he was very young and already feels like a dream come true and makes all the hard work Jake has put into his riding worthwhile.”
At the event, there were sixty of the best 138cm pony rider combinations in Britain and only three places at the forthcoming Horse of the Year Show. The course was very demanding and only twelve got through to the next round. Out of the twelve only six went clear and into the third round. Jake was the first to go in the jump off and get a good clear round, which pushed other riders to try and beat his time, whilst still jumping clear, but nobody else succeeded in jumping clear and consequently Jake won.
