Year 8 student Joel Cameron has just been selected to represent the West Panthers in the United Kingdom Festival of Hockey in Nottingham in June.

Joel has had a successful Hockey season in 2016/17 with both the College and club.  At Ivybridge Community College he was part of the Under 13 Team who won Gold in the Devon Schools Plate competition, as well as being part of the Under 14 Team who also played in the County Finals.  For his club, Plymouth Marjon HC, he reached the Regional Under 14 Finals, the PMHC squad also featured fellow Ivybridge (Year 9) students Ed Fileman, Albie Wilson and Ben Preece – both Ben and Albie have previously represented the West Panthers and last December saw Albie travel to Sardinia as part of the UK Lions squad, which was selected from the best players at the UK Festival of Hockey.  The West Panthers competed in the UK Festival of Hockey against other regions from England as well sides from Scotland, Wales and Ireland.

This rounds off a successful Hockey year for Ivybridge, which saw the Under 13 Girls have their most successful season in recent years, they followed up a semi-final place at the Devon Finals by being crowned Plymouth Champions following an unbeaten season.  The successful Under 13 Team featured, Georgia Dixon, Ruby Hutchinson, Ilana Hill, Megan Bishop, Kristyna Cade, Jay Bourne, Esme Burris.  Megan and Esme were also part of the Plymouth Marjon Girls’ Under 12 Team, who recently competed in the Regional Finals in Clifton having being Devon runners-up.  In similar circumstances, Issac Burris and Toby Cameron also represented PMHC in the Boys’ Under 12 Regional Finals in Clifton having also been runners-up in the Devon Competition.
