The Pod for Greener Schools

Switch-Off Fortnight 2009

Following on from the huge success of Green Britain Day, Eco Schools and the Pod are inviting teachers across the UK to take part in this year’s Switch-Off Fortnight, and the College will run this from Monday, 16 to Friday, 27 November.

Mr Kerswell will be launching the initiative over the next two weeks providing information and updates on how the College is doing.

Not only that, but the activities are designed to get the whole College thinking about how to use energy more efficiently and about making long term behaviour change, so there are potential savings to be made on energy bills.* Schools that have taken part in Switch off Fortnight in the Worcestershire, Warwickshire and Coventry areas for the past three years have reported savings of between 10% and 20%* on their energy bills.

So get involved! We will be collecting ideas from students on how you suggest the College can save more energy during the course of the next two weeks.  There are posters around the College to give you some ideas. There will be a table in the LRC area, and students can bring their suggestions along.  You will get a free pencil and sticker for submitting a suggestion!!
